Itinerary

Sample itinerary - this is how your expedition could look like

Day 1 - Arrival and transfer to Tagish
In the morning, you will be picked up at the hotel or at the airport upon arrival in Whitehorse and shuttled Tagish. At Tagish Lake Kennel, you meet your musher guides and your dogteam. Time to gear up! You'll take a ride in the sled as a passenger across the frozen lake to reach your destination for today - remote Tagish Wilderness Lodge. After an approx. 1 hour journey, you will be welcomed by your Swiss hosts Sarah and Gebhard who have a hot cup of tea and some home baked goodies ready for you. Time to settle in and watch and learn from the mushers as they settle their team in for the night at the Lodge.

Day 2 - Dogsledding 101 - learning the ropes
Feeding, harnessing, massaging, putting booties on....all those things you will learn from our professional mushers and guides. Take your time and get acquainted with your dogteam, they are going to work for you the following days! If time and weather permits, you'll be heading out in the afternoon for an initiation loop!

Day 3 - Dogsledding
Your first full day on the sled - enjoy the vastness of this country, listen to the panting of your canine athletes while they take you to even more remote places along the lake. Under way, you stop for a hot trapper's lunch and give your team a rest.

Don't miss going out at night to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights!

Day 4 - Dogsledding excursion to Atlin
Now almost an expert yourself, you'll ride your team on another excursion throught the untouched winter wonderland. Your destination tonight - the picturesque village of Atlin, where you will spend the night in a small Hotel, your dogs tied up in front just like in old times!

Day 5 - Return to Tagish Wilderness Lodge

Well rested, you tackle the way home through untouched boreal forest and reach the Lodge later in the afternoon. A visit to the herbal sauna is a welcome treat tonight!

Day 6 - Free day
Enjoy this day to explore the area around the Lodge on foot or on snowshoes, or take advantage of another day out on the dogsled!

Day 7 - Departure
A skiplane lands on the frozen lake and picks you up for a scenic 30-minute flight back to Whitehorse. Departure from Whitehorse or continuation of individual program.

You may want to add additional days to your dogmushing adventure or even choose to camp a night outdoors - the options are endless!
